The P and J Thing

P Types

If there's a P in your type it means you prefer Introverted Deciding over Extraverted Deciding. If you’re a P, you’ll have either Introverted Thinking or Introverted Feeling in one of your two most conscious function-attitudes. Both of the Introverted Deciding functions are analytically oriented. These analytical decision making function-attitudes tend to take in more information before drawing a conclusion.

Your preferred perceiving function-attitude will be extraverted (either Extraverted Sensing or Extraverted Intuition). Extraverted Perceiving function-attitudes tend to be more divergent instead of convergent. That is, they'll perceive an array of stimuli that doesn't necessarily point to a singular solution.

If you're an extraverted P type, you'll be more inclined to take action based on your sense of excitement, interest or enthusiasm regarding an option that your perceiving function-attitude picks up. You're usually taking action in order to get more information because you learn by experiencing the world. This is very different than the conclusive mindset in the extraverted J personality.

If you're an introverted P, especially an introverted and intuitive P, then you're among those who prefer to philosophize the most and will be the least action-oriented of all the types. Your Introverted Deciding function-attitude is of first and foremost importance, and it demands more observation and input before an action is taken.

J Types

From an eight function-attitudes point of view, a J in your type means you prefer Extraverted Deciding over Introverted Deciding. If you’re a J, you’ll have either Extraverted Thinking or Extraverted Feeling in one of your two most conscious function-attitudes. These Extraverted Deciding function-attitudes tend to be fast acting. They'll prefer to make a decision and move on rather than ponder all the subtleties involved.

Your most preferred Perceiving function-attitude will be introverted (either Introverted Sensing or Introverted Intuition). The Introverted Perceiving function-attitudes tend to be more convergent. That is, they tend to perceive singular solutions that facilitate the quicker decision making powers of their Extraverted Deciding function-attitudes.

Extraverted J types will make decisions and act on them very quickly compared to other types. Introverted J types also tend to make decisions quickly but draw from their perceptions first. In other words the "how" comes before the "what," whereas in extraverted J types it is the other way around.
